Is the Chabanel Psalm Project complete?

The Chabanel Psalm project corresponds to the ordinary ("Novus Ordo") Church calendar, which employs a three year cycle of readings. The Chabanel Psalm project was begun in June of 2007 and released in August of 2007 (on the feast of the Transfiguration).

At its release, more than 350 organist and vocal scores had been produced, but feasts still remained which lacked a Chabanel setting. As of October 12, 2007, more than 450 scores have been completed and uploaded.

Considering that most of the yet-to-be-completed Responsorial Psalms will not be needed until 2009, we may rest assured that the missing Psalms will be completed with plenty of time to spare. Even if the remaining Psalms were never completed, one could still "get by" using the "Common (Seasonal) Psalms."

However, the author would like to take this opportunity to invite his fellow liturgical composers to submit their own settings of Responsorial Psalms. If they resemble in musical style the Chabanel Psalms, they will gladly be submitted to the board for inclusion in the Chabanel Psalm project. However, if published on this website, they do become the exclusive property of Corpus Christi Watershed, which will present them perpetually to the Church Universal as a gift. This invitation to set Psalms is not limited merely to the Psalms which I have not yet set: alternative settings of any of the Psalms are always welcome!

There are also plans to add ALLELUIA's to the Chabanel Psalms in the future (since an ALLELUIA is a refrain option for several Responsorial Psalms). This will be helpful to those looking for harmonized ALLELUIA's (sung before the Gospel at Mass).
